The method

The work starts from records, not from the answer you hope for and not from other people's trees. Each link between two people gets one of three grades.

  • PROVEN: an original record states the link, and the page image was read.
  • LIKELY: an index or several records point the same way, but no single original says it outright.
  • GUESS: the best lead left, written up as a lead and never as a fact.

If the records do not answer the question, the report says so and lists what was searched.
